Fremont

Description

Built during the Spanish-American War, Fort Fremont on Saint Helena Island in Beaufort County, South Carolina, is one of the few surviving coastal forts of the era. Originally designed to protect the Port Royal Naval Station, it is now operated as the Fort Fremont History Center.
